Ads We Hate: Dockers Spin the Bottle

Dockers has been running a series of commercials for awhile now that focus on chance romantic encounters, such as the one where two people spot each other from two different trains and each get off the train so they can meet one another. I can get past the fact that such an occurrence would never happen in real life, but it's the perfectly-kempt, pearly-toothed, let's-get-married-and-purchase-baby-products-at JCPenney look of the actors in those commercials that make me want to throw my television out the window. It's like watching mannequins sprung to life, there's no real feeling to the ads at all. The worst one of all, I think, is the Spin the Bottle ad. A lovely woman walks by a handsome man as he sits at his table in an outdoor cafe, but she accidentally bumps a waiter who spills his tray, the bottle left spinning on the table. Then (gasp!), they watch to see who the bottle will point to. It's about as trivial and "sentimental" as a Hallmark card, and I'm not sure there's any other commercial on the air right now that can rival this one in terms of sheer lameness.
